Eco-Explorer is an exclusive overnight camp that combines classroom learning with a vigorous schedule of outdoor field trips and hands-on activities to create the ultimate camp experience for budding marine biologists! It’s currently designed for high school students ages 14-18 years old.
Explorers will be housed in the modern facilities of the New College of Florida campus in Sarasota for the duration of the camp and will serve as our “home base.” In addition to indoor marine biology and conservation lessons given by leading marine science experts, students will have multiple opportunities to participate in a variety of outdoor experiences like snorkeling in Crystal River while learning about Florida springs ecology, kayaking through mangrove tunnels and specimen sampling in Sarasota Bay, taking part in a sea turtle night walk, and studying the nocturnal activities of marine animals during a sleepover at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa.
The tuition fee of $950 will cover: all meals, lodging, transportation to and from all field trips, boat fees and all other fees associated with field trips. These trips may include the Bishop Planetarium in Bradenton, the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, activities aboard pontoon boat in Sarasota Bay, and a biologist-led kayak mangrove tour. Tuition also includes all snorkel equipment, wet suit rentals, an official Eco-Explorer Camp t-shirt, water bottle, and a science journal.
Space is limited to a first come, first served basis. A non-refundable deposit of $250 is required at time of registration to hold your spot.
